A certain number of galaxies scheduled by R.A. celestial coordinates were selected and their original images are available here. Click on names to see them!  The images were acquired from the home-observatory of the author at Castelmartini, municipality of Larciano - Pistoia - ITALY. This place is located near Florence, 35m over the sea level, in a suburban environment.

Instrumentation:

Scope: Meade SSC 10" with Computer Drive System (CDS #1697) and, eventually, the Celestron focal-reducer;

CCD camera: Hi-SIS 22 (KODAK KAF-400)

Software: QMIPS32; WinMiPS32; MiPS; Prism; EPOCH 2000; Megastar.

• A sequence of unguided exposures (typically from 5" to 60") of the field of interest is taken.
• It is processed by means of an automated procedure, realized with MiPS 2.0; the frames are calibrated and equalized. Then they are registered and a median summation is performed. In this way the noise is drastically reduced.
• The resulting image is analyzed and eventually retouched by means of a synthetized picture in order to make the background homogeneous.
• At the end the image is stretched over a log-grayscale.
